ROADEN

Terms of use

Updated 23 September 2026

This is a translation. Roaden is run from Spain and the Spanish version of this document is the one that is legally binding. It is at /terminos. This English text is here so it can be read, and if the two ever disagree, the Spanish one is the one that counts.

These are the rules of using Roaden. They are written to be read, not to put you off reading them.

What this is today

Roaden is a service for planning motorcycle routes, saving them, publishing them and finding other people's. Anyone can sign up with their email.

It is a subscription service, with fourteen free days before the first payment. Keeping the map, the routing engine and the servers running costs money every month, and we would rather say so plainly than prop up a free version that would end up degrading. The terms of sale are published, and nobody moves to paying without having accepted them.

Your account

What you make is yours

Your routes, your notes and your photographs stay yours. Publishing a route gives us permission to show it to other people inside Roaden โ€” nothing more, and only while it stays published. Make it private or delete it and that permission ends.

In return we ask you to upload only what is yours to upload: photographs you took or have permission for, and nothing that carries somebody else's rights.

What cannot be published

Reviews are moderated before they are published

When you review somebody else's route, it is read before anybody sees it and before it counts towards the average. If we do not publish it, we tell you why and you can rewrite it โ€” and rewriting it sends it back to be read again.

That reading is done by a person on our team: no automated system decides whether your review is published. If it is not published, you can ask us why by writing to info@roaden.app. And if some of that reading is ever done by an automated system, we will say so here before we start using it.

We do not moderate for agreeing with us. What gets refused is what insults, what singles somebody out, and what is not about the route.

The riding is yours, and the routes are not ours

We take no responsibility for the routes, neither the ones Roaden calculates nor the ones somebody else publishes. A route is a line on a map. It is not a report on the state of the road. Surfaces change, there are roadworks, there are closures, there is ice, and there are tracks that are a road on the map and a dirt trail in reality.

You decide whether to ride it. Respect the signs, the rules and your bike.

The ones Roaden calculates are drawn over OpenStreetMap, made by volunteers and sometimes incomplete. We mark the unpaved stretches we detect, and that detection is approximate: in Spain most small roads have never had their surface recorded by anybody, so a route not marking gravel does not mean there is none.

The ones somebody else publishes are theirs and we do not check them. We do not know whether it is legal to ride there, whether the track still exists, whether it crosses private land or whether it suits your bike. Whoever publishes answers for what they publish โ€” and if you publish a route, that includes you.

If you see a published route that is unlawful or dangerous, write to us at info@roaden.app and we take it down.

This does not release us from answering for our own failures, nor does it cut back your rights as a consumer.

What we can do

What we do not promise

That it will always be available, that it will have no faults, or that a route is rideable: the map is made by people and people get things wrong, and a road may have been closed since yesterday. What we do promise is not to lose your routes on purpose, to tell you before any change that affects you, and never to charge you anything you have not agreed to.
